Medicare is a government health insurance plan for those who are 65 years of age and older. The month a person turns 65, they may enroll in the Medicare program. However, Medicare does not cover every medical expense so it is wise to enroll in a Medicare Supplement. Others who qualify for Medicare are those who have qualified for Social Security Disability benefits.
A Medicare Supplement will supplement the costs not covered by Medicare. Be sure to enroll in a Medicare Supplement policy within 6 months of qualifying for Medicare. This is the open enrollment period and during this time all companies are required to offer coverage to all applying regardless of health.
There are many different companies that offer Medicare Supplements and many different plans from each company. We offer a full range of companies and plans and are willing to work with you to help you determine the best company and the best policy for your needs. Also remember that spouses must have their own Medicare Supplement policy.
In addition to Medicare and a Medicare Supplement, it is wise to enroll in a Prescription Drug Plan that will help pay for your prescriptions. This is a Medicare program and is called “Part D”. Our agency offers a variety of Part D plans and will help you select a plan according to your medication needs. We will need a list of your medications in order to help you make an informed decision.
